Why Do You Train?

It is my calling. No matter how many times I have stepped away from it, which was not very often, I always came back, whether it was coaching, personal training, or group fitness. Being strong is empowering and being healthy is everything. Although I love training adults, my true skill has always been in training youth athletes, this is where my fire is. Empowerment is my driving force. Sports bring out a lot in us but when an athlete truly taps into who they are and finds their confidence and individual strength, that is when they will excel. I am passionate about helping athletes take control. As a coach it is always my goal that each athlete does their sport for them. Nor for their parents, their coaches or for any other reason. It has to be their passion and it is my goal to take that passion and make them the best they can be.

What is Your Training Style?

My training style is always full of energy and passion. Hard work and respect is always expected. This being said I do feel like it changes depending on who I am working with. Every athlete requires something a little different and it is my job as a trainer/coach to figure out how to bring out the best in them. Training is personal to me and I want it to be personal to the athlete as well so getting to know who I am working with is really important to me.

Advice for Others?

Keep at it, know who you are, and there is no right way. I think a lot of us get stuck in a box thinking there is a right way to train or a right way to lose weight but that couldn’t be further than the truth. As an athlete there are skills and techniques that you should adhere to but every athlete and body will respond differently. The same goes for let’s say someone trying to lose weight. There are definite unhealthy foods you should stay away from and basic workout requirements but you have to find what works for you. Life is life, everyone’s body is different, and everyone’s mind works differently. You won’t stick to something you hate whether that is a diet, a workout regiment, or a sport so don’t waste your time trying. Find something you love, know your why, and then results will happen.
